The Season In Brief A View From The Chair... Dear All, With another season now over I would like to take this opportunity to applaud all our teams and everyone involved who once again have proudly represented this club. All our teams have competed strongly in their relevant divisions and I would congratulate them all on their respective successes It has been a busy season on and off the field of play and it is time for me to reflect on the highlights. The under 7's playing together as a team for their first season finished 6th in their group. This was an excellent achievement considering they have only been together for a short period prior to season kicking off. Well done Andy & Michael keep up the good work. The under 8's finished a very creditable 4th in group B as they attended the Coventry 5 aside which they won last year, this time they lost out in the final, keep up the good work Mark & Tony. Plans are in hand to commence a second side for next season. The under 9's with Nigel and Steve at the helm turned their season around just after Christmas, finishing the season on a high by taking 29 of the last 36 points available. This up-turn in form enabled the team to finish 5th, they look forward with renewed confidence to next season. The under 10's A team under the management of Kevin & Lee reached the semi-final of the open cup and finished 5th in group A. During Easter they took part in a tournament in Weymouth losing out in the final on penalties. The under 10 colts continued to build on the success of last season by consolidating their position in group E finishing the season in mid-table, well done to John & Dennis. With the under 10's making the step up to 11 aside football next season the foundations look well in place. The under 11's had a outstanding start to there 11 aside campaign finishing the season unbeaten and CHAMPIONS of their division. An excellent season considering all the problems they had at the start well done to Eddie & Terry. The under 12's finished 3rd this season having won the title last year, however they have enjoyed success in the cup competitions. They reached the final of the league shield and WON the open cup. Under the guidance of Mark & Alan they also WON in Weymouth at Easter another great year. The under 13's experienced the high's and low's of football over the season, they had a great cup run missing out on a final after extra time. The league campaign in a competitive division has seen them emerge with a side well placed for the challenges ahead under the guidance of Brad and Paul. The under 14's had a roller coaster year, going weeks without playing. This disruption to their season saw them in a relegation battle from which they emerged victor's. They look forward to the new season with renewed confidence under the management. Our under 16's enjoyed their final season of children's football with a smile, which under the guidance of Nick and Dan was a regular theme in training. The lad's stuck to the task until the end and those who leave us do so with our best wishes and thanks. This season saw us commence youth football with a side competing in the Stourport Youth League under 18's division. For the 2nd season in the a row the team WON the double under the guidance of Dave and Steve. Our 2 senior sides playing in the Midland Combination enjoyed a successful year, which was the first team achieve promotion to the Premier Division. This season sees the departure from the club of four managers, who have given of their time over the years free. Nick & Dan Coates from the 16's, Steve Partridge from the 14's and Phil Horton from the 13's. All of them leave with our best wishes and heartfelt thanks for all their efforts over the years. I would also like to thank my fellow committee members for their time and efforts over the season. Mike Elliott - Secretary, Rob Pugh - Treasure, John Peckham - Vice Chair & Senior's General Manager, John Philpot - Social Secretary, Nigel Watson - 7 aside rep and Mick Keenan - 11 aside rep. The new season brings with it the challenges on and off the field, we hope to obtain our F.A Standard Charter award and to this end Nigel Watson and Scott Dickinson have set up our own website at www.cadbury-club.co.uk/football.htm. Please visit the site and see how we progress over the season. On a personal note I would like to thank everyone who has supported me in my first year as Chairman and to apologise to my son James (under 12's) for moaning at him every Sunday! But that's football!!!! I wish you all a great summer and look forward to seeing you all next season. Andy Clarke |
